Dr. Ryan Bernstein DC
Dr. Ryan Bernstein grew up in Staten Island, New York. As one of three boys, Ryan has always had an affinity for all things sports, especially baseball and basketball. He attended Susan E. Wagner High School, where he was captain of his basketball and baseball teams. During his junior year of high school, he suffered an ankle injury that required physical therapy, and at this time Ryan knew that he wanted to work in the sports medicine world. After graduation, Ryan attended SUNY Cortland and graduated with a degree in Exercise Science. He also spent 1 year at the University at Buffalo, where he was a team manager and practice player for the men’s basketball team. During his time in undergrad, he became a AFAA Certified Personal Trainer, with further certifications in yoga, prehab/rehab exercises and over head athlete shoulder health.
In the fall of 2016 Ryan began his journey into his Chiropractic career enrolling in New York Chiropractic College (NYCC). During his time there he discovered that he could combine his passion for athletics and fitness with sports medicine. During his clinical rotations at NYCC, Ryan had the opportunity to work with many patient populations. Ryan completed a 10 week rotation studying under doctors at the VA hospital in Bath, NY. At the Bath VA, he worked with veterans using rehab-based exercises to combat chronic pain. He also spent time working under Dr. Canfield at Hobart William Smith College treating collegiate athletes (swimming/diving, baseball, hockey, lacrosse, basketball, football, field hockey, track and field, and soccer), and the Elmira Pioneers, a summer league baseball team with DI players from all over the SEC. Ryan also completed a rotation in Ithaca, New York where he used chiropractic treatments and interventions as an alternative to opioid use in patients who suffer from chronic pain. Ryan also received certificates in Sports Medicine and Human Performance, and Whole Food Nutrition while at NYCC.
In November of 2019, Ryan attended seminars in Active Release Techniques in Toronto, and became certified in lower extremity ART. Ryan is looking forward to putting his certifications and skill set to use as the newest member of the WIMB’s Chiropractic team.
In his spare time Ryan likes to play basketball and softball, workout, hike and kayak with his wife.
